blinded

i spent a wonderful lunch hour this afternoon on the campus of duke university. i’m not a student anymore (and was never a student at duke), though sometimes i wish i were. but i must admit that it felt significantly better sitting out there in the sun reading a book for good and for fun and not having any kind of deadline looming or ridiculous student stresses.

plus, i liked this one giant ant that was hanging out for a while. i liked the way the pine needles stacked up on the ground and i liked that i had to squint into the sun and take off my turtleneck and snuggle the bark of a tree.
