last week, we inherited a lizard from o’s friendlly coworkers. his name is pazuzu and i have no idea what sort of lizard he is, but i do know what sort of demon pazuzu is.
Pazuzu is the god of the southwest wind known for bringing famine during dry seasons, and locusts during rainy seasons. Pazuzu was said to be invoked in amulets which combat the powers of the malicious goddess, and hated rival, Lamashtu, who was believed to cause harm to mother and child during childbirth. Although Pazuzu is, himself, an evil spirit, he drives away other evil spirits, thus protecting humans against plagues and misfortunes.
I think he is just beautiful!
update! he’s a leopard gecko.
What? Did the coworker die? “And now for the reading of the will! You get Pazuzu…” Man, the word “inherit” totally screwed with my mind on this post.
oh, no no no, she didn’t die. she just moved and couldn’t take him with her. so that’s how we got pazuzu.
If you watch closely, he’ll lick his eyes. It’s weird when they do that.
